The Sunday Scaries are upon us once again! Yes, as the weekend concludes, most of us feel an oncoming sense of anticipatory dread about the week ahead. Anxiety about work manifests itself into a feeling that’s known as the Sunday Scaries. However, we at Awards Radar are here to combat that, by taking back the name. Now, we want you think about a horror-centric piece on the site when you hear the term. So, let us continue on with another installment of the Awards Radar Sunday Scaries! This time around, we’re asking you all about upcoming fright flicks…

Horror is having a hell of a 2024, as I wrote about in my recent piece here on the first half of the year. Now that we’re in the second half, there’s still no shortage of titles that are going to tickle genre fans. We’ve already had Longlegs become a genuine sensation (as I raved about here and here), while MaXXXine and Oddity have debuted to strong reviews (including mine here and here). That alone would be better than in some years, but there’s plenty more to come. As such, we’re sort of mixing in an extra Awards Radar Community Question, to find out which remaining 2024 fright flick you’re most anticipating.
For most of you, it’s likely either Alien: Romulus and/or Nosferatu. I’m certainly pumped for them as well, alongside Terrifier 3 as well. If you side with one of these for any particular reason, don’t be shy about telling us so. There’s three very different flavors of horror, to be sure, so they appeal to very different audience members. Personally? I can’t wait for all three of them, but that’s just me.
What other scary movies are on the horizon? Well, there’s tons, but two more with a potential following are the sequel Smile 2, alongside the remake of Speak No Evil. Expectations may be lower here than with the originals, but that doesn’t actually mean anything. Either or both of them could blow all of us away, obviously.
I’d also like to point out another small NEON fright flick in Cuckoo, which I’ve already seen and will be reviewing soon. It’s fun and weird and worth taking note of. Coming right after Longlegs, no less, NEON has got the horror goods, which is actually going to be a future Sunday Scaries piece in and of itself, so be on the lookout for that.
Of course, there’s other titles that I haven’t mentioned that could be on your horizon. Maybe you see Nightbitch as more horror than satire? Perhaps there’s international horror I’m currently not aware of? Whatever the case may be, if there’s another film you want to shout out, by all means, please go ahead and shout it out.
Now, it’s your turn. Whichever remaining 2024 horror titles have your interest, we want to know about it. Let us know and don’t be shy. It’s the Sunday Scaries, after all, so what safer spot is there than this? Let loose…
Stay tuned for another Sunday Scaries installment next week!

I was under the impression that Nightbitch was going to be a straight-up comedy, but since it’s pitching itself as more of a horror movie, that’s for sure the horror release I am most looking forward to for the remainder of the year. Marielle Heller is one of the most exciting feature film directors to have emerged from within the last ten years and she’s already proven her chops as a horror director. The Diary of a Teenage Girl might be the flat-out most harrowing and anxiety-inducing teen coming-of-age dramas I’ve ever seen, and A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood deploys horror aesthetics throughout in service of its eerie supernatural conceits.
And while I’m not the biggest fan of Robert Eggers, there’s no way anyone can deny Nosferatu is gonna look like a million bucks based on the trailer alone.
I think the quote from Heller is that it will be a comedy to women and a horror film to men, which has me very intrigued…
Im not a horror fan bit saw the Nosferatu trailer on the big screen (before Focus’ lovely TOUCH) last week. NOSFERATU does look ah.maze.zing! Terrifying. An event not to miss.
Noted!
