Awards Radar Community: Do You Think There Are Too Many Horror Movies Coming Out?

Especially during the early parts of a year, horror can reign supreme. We all know why, of course. It’s cheap to produce, popular with fans, and can easily be sequelized. Look at the current theatrical landscape. Literally right now in theaters, you could be watching The First Omen (look for my belated review tomorrow), Imaginary, Immaculate, and/or Late Night with the Devil. No other genre has that much in cinemas at once. The question put forth today, for an Awards Radar Community Question, no less is this: are there too many horror films coming out around the same time?

IFC Films

If you’re like me, you’re of the opinion that the more the merrier. A rising tide lifts all ships, and it’s probably no coincidence that of the titles mentioned above, all but one is considered very high quality. It’s certainly quality over quantity when it comes right down to it, but these days, we’re kind of getting both. I for one love it. Are you in my boat? If so, we want to know, as well as finding out why!

On the other hand, maybe you wish there wasn’t quite so much focus on horror? That’s okay, if so. Perhaps you would prefer if they were a bit more spaced out? That’s a perfectly valid opinion to have. If that’s the case, don’t be shy in saying so. That’s the entire point of putting out this question today, of course.

However you fall on this spectrum, we want to hear from you. Whether it’s wanting less horror or not, we’re keen to find out your take on this. Scary movies aren’t going anywhere, but don’t hold back on letting us know your thoughts on it, re: volume. Have at it…
