Amanda Seyfried is heading back to television for her first major series role since Big Love.
The newly-minted Oscar nominee has been brought on board at Hulu to replace Kate McKinnon to star as Elizabeth Holmes in the limited series The Dropout.
We got a little tease of this announcement last month during our interview with Seyfried, where she spoke with Joey Magidson about the prospect of her doing a television series, asking for his take.
The Dropout is based on an ABC News podcast that tracks how Theranos founder Holmes was able to raise hundreds of millions of dollars to fund a start-up while concealing the fact that the blood-testing machine she was raising the money for didn’t actually work.
Seyfried has also appeared in smaller roles in hit television series like Veronica Mars and, more recently, Twin Peaks: The Return.
The Dropout will be showrun by New Girl’s Elizabeth Meriwether. Seyfried is also on board to produce for the streamer.
