Want some more good news to close out the week? Russell Brand, the mediocre-comedian-turned-shock-jock-turned-failed-Hollywood-actor-turned-socialist-firebrand-turned-wellness-influencer-turned-right-wing-grievance-peddler, has been found guilty of one count of Rape and three counts of Sexual Assault. From the BBC:
- Brand was found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman whose breasts he grabbed at a bar in London in 2004.
- He was also guilty of sexually assaulting a woman at the Choice FM studios in London in either 2004 or 2005, when he grabbed her face and kissed her before touching her breasts and bottom.
- Brand was guilty of anally raping a woman at his then-home in London in 2009 after meeting her at a comedy show in Hammersmith.
- He was also guilty of a sexual assault charge while working on a Channel 4 project in 2009, when he laid his head into the groin area of a woman working with him without her consent.
This is but a small fraction of his many heinous offenses against women and young girls, several of which he admits to in his despicable memoir My Booky Wook. I will never get over just how hard the American entertainment industry worked to make this sleazebag a movie star from 2008 to roughly 2013, considering how much of his comedic routines were just finding new ways to announce, “I have a monstrous sense of entitlement towards women’s bodies and see them as nothing more than my personal playthings.” But, after a multi-year-long campaign from the Epstein Class to undermine and undo the #MeToo reckoning, it feels damned reassuring to be reminded that we still live in a world where serial sex pests can be held to account for their disgusting crimes. We do not have to tolerate these gross dudes. They are not owed irrevocable fame and fortune and impunity like they insist they are. The British justice system, for all its flaws, just showed us that our society can do better than men like Brand.
His sentencing is on Monday, and he faces a significant prison sentence out of these convictions. Look on the bright side, Russ — maybe you can finally devote some time to finding that biblical passage you supposedly thought was so moving but elusive on Piers Morgan Uncensored:

I hope the standing goes well. Scumbag. Just because you are a celebrity it doesn’t mean you get to rape people.
