Fans of Richard Linklater rejoice! 2025 is proving to be a very good year for the filmmaker. He’s directed two films that have been festival darlings already, with more honors set to come. Linklater helmed Blue Moon, which won Andrew Scott a Supporting Actor prize at the Berlin Film Festival, with bows at the Toronto International Film Festival and New York Film Festival upcoming. He also made Nouvelle Vague, which was a hot ticket at the Cannes Film Festival, with TIFF and NYFF (and perhaps the Telluride Film Festival) on the docket as well. With this embarrassment of riches, a status check is due. So, an Awards Radar Community question is here. Which Linklater movie are you more interested in seeing?
If you’re more intrigued by Blue Moon, tell us why. Could it be because of my reaction after seeing it? Maybe you’re a big Ethan Hawke fan? Perhaps you’re intrigued by Margaret Qualley or Scott’s award winning supporting turn? Regardless, we’re curious. For a bit of extra context, here is what I had to say earlier in the week after my screening let out:
If it’s Nouvelle Vague for you, you also have to give your reasoning. It could obviously be the meta aspect of documenting the making of the classic film Breathless, or being a fan of that classic in and of itself, but it doesn’t have to be. Maybe you just like the idea of Linklater tackling moviemaking in his cinema? Whatever the reason, all you have to do is explain and we’ll be eager beavers to listen.
Now, it’s time to let your thoughts be known. Are you more eager to see Blue Moon or Nouvelle Vague in the coming weeks and months? Maybe you’re equally excited for both? Whatever the case may be, chime in and say so. We’re all ears…
Are you more interested in Richard Linklater’s Blue Moon or Nouvelle Vague? Let us know!

I’m not sure if I’m all that excited for either of them, honestly. And I like Richard Linklater a lot!
But I’m not that big on Oklahoma! or À Bout De Souffle, and it seems like both films depend on affection for their subject matter to get much out of them. I hope I’m wrong.
Actually, neither is the main character in Blue Moon, for what that’s worth.
Blue Moon, It should get a screenplay nod as well.
No argument here about the screenplay.
