This morning, Netflix announced their release plans for Clint Bentley‘s Train Dreams, one of the big successes of the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. The movie stars Joel Edgerton and seems like a potential awards vehicle. Going by the streamer’s calendar placement, they think so too, as you’re about to find out.
According to Netflix, the film will be released in select theaters in November and stream on Netflix starting November 21st. Bentley directs the adaptation, which he penned with Greg Kwedar. In addition to Edgerton, the cast includes Felicity Jones, Nathaniel Arcand, Clifton Collins Jr., Kerry Condon, John Diehl, William H. Macy, Paul Schneider, and Will Patton. This is the official logline: “Based on Denis Johnson’s beloved novella, Train Dreams is the moving portrait of Robert Grainier, a logger and railroad worker who leads a life of unexpected depth and beauty in the rapidly-changing America of the early 20th Century.”
