Potential Venice Film Festival Titles for 2025 Include ‘After the Hunt,’ ‘Bugonia,’ ‘Jay Kelly,’ ‘The Smashing Machine,’ and More

Today’s the first day of summer, though eyes are already on the fall and festival season. First up in that regard will be the Venice Film Festival. Venice always launches a number of awards contenders, coming right around the same time as the Telluride Film Festival and shortly before the Toronto International Film Festival. Reports this morning have some educated guesses on some of the movies we might see at Venice. More below.

According to Variety, the 82nd Venice Film Festival is looking at a potentially stacked lineup. Titles seen as very likely for the festival include After the Hunt from Luca Guadagnino, Bugonia from Yorgos Lanthimos, and The Smashing Machine from Benny Safdie. Eyed for the fest in addition to those are the Netflix trio of Frankenstein from Guillermo del Toro, A House of Dynamite from Katherine Bigelow, and Jay Kelly from Noah Baumbach. The lineup will be announced on July 22nd, so we’re just over a month away from finding out for sure. In the meantime, speculation can begin in earnest.
