Christopher Nolan’s Next Film is An Adaptation of ‘The Odyssey’

Here’s some unexpected news. Rumors have been floating around for a while now about what the next Christopher Nolan film would be about. We know who is in it and when it’s coming out, but the plot of the movie was a big mystery. Speculation ran wild, but that ended today, as it’s been revealed to be an adaptation of The Odyssey.

Universal Pictures revealed this in a post on X earlier today, stating the following: “Christopher Nolan’s next film ‘The Odyssey’ is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology. The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026.” The Odyssey is written and directed by Nolan, with a cast led by Matt DamonTom HollandAnne Hathaway, ZendayaLupita Nyong’oRobert Pattinson, and Charlize Theron. The film will be in theaters on July 17th, 2026. More when we have it.
