Next month, there’s an entry deadline coming up for the Golden Globe Awards. In short, studios will have to decide in some cases whether to submit their films and performances as Comedy or Drama contenders. Well, Scott Feinberg has done some digging and he’s reporting on several of the category placement decisions that have been made.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, via Feinberg’s reporting, we now know most of the Golden Globe hopefuls for each category. In the Best Musical or Comedy category, you can look for musicals like Better Man, Emilia Pérez, Joker: Folie à Deux, Mean Girls, and Wicked. You can also looks for dark comedies or broader comedies such as Anora, Challengers, Hit Man, Kinds of Kindness, Nightbitch, A Real Pain, Saturday Night, and Thelma. As for the Drama category, the potential nominees could be drawn from The Apprentice, Babygirl, Blitz, A Complete Unknown, Conclave, Dune Part Two, Gladiator II, Maria, Queer, The Room Next Door, and September 5, among others. That’s hardly all of them, to be sure, and the article also mentions that The Substance is still a wild card, but it does set the table a bit in advance of the deadline on November 4th.
