Rainn Wilson is an actor best known for his portrayal of Dwight Schrute on the popular NBC sitcom The Office. But there’s much more to him than just that one role, and now he’s back on Peacock hosting a different kind of show, one that finds him trotting around the globe trying to find the answer to what makes people happy.
Awards Radar had the chance to speak with Wilson about anchoring Rainn Wilson and the Geography of Bliss and the process of finding the right home for the series:
“We pitched it all around and we decided to go with Peacock, but we had interest from other entities, so, believe it or not, a lot of people really got the fact that this is the perfect post-COVID show. Once COVID is settling down, people are going to want to travel and see the world and reconnect again. So that has been a miracle, and Peacock has been the perfect partner.”
On whether his most famous character is interested in happiness:
“I think that Dwight has a very different vision of happiness, and would almost view happiness as a weakness. For him, it’s more about hard work, determination, and duty to one’s clan, where one finds meaning. So, I would say, Dwight is really more about meaning than about bliss.”
