Julia Garner Reportedly Offered the Lead in Madonna Biopic

One of the more hotly sought after roles in Hollywood of late may have been filled. For a while now, almost every young actress in the business has been vying to play Madonna in a biopic about the singer. Not only is it a plum role, it’s a film that Madonna herself will be directing, adding an extra layer of intrigue. Names like Florence Pugh had been rumored, but it seems like an initial list of about a dozen finalists has been whittled down to one.

According to Variety, Julia Garner has been offered the lead role in the movie. Garner has been winning acclaim on Ozark and is considered one of the more exciting young actresses in the industry, so this could be a real get for both sides. Of course, no deal has been finalized, but if Garner is who Madonna wants to play her, this may be all but a done deal.
