Time to recap Episode Four of The Morning Show. This episode finds the TMS team in Las Vegas for the democratic debate, where Alex (Jennifer Aniston) has begrudgingly signed on to help moderate. Alex has enough on her plate, as journalist Maggie’s (Marcia Gay Harden) looming book about TMS is set to be released, causing Alex a great deal of pain (both mental and physical). The brunt of her frustration gets taken out on her hapless producer Chip (Mark Duplass).
If you’ve been watching, Reese Witherspoon‘s Bradley continues her relationship, of sorts, with Laura (Julianna Margulies), while Cory (Billy Crudup) is still stressing about a story that is going to come out about Hannah (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), the employee who died in the first season. He doesn’t want anything bad said about Hannah in the press, so he visits her father, to try and convince him to settle the case Hannah’s family has against TMS’ parent company.
At this point, it’s unclear what could really make The Morning Show feel like it’s worth watching. Sure, it’s nice to watch A-list stars spar with each other, and Aniston’s performance continues to be a highlight, but the show’s second season feels entirely flat, and it’s at the halfway point of the season already.
