Interview: Going ‘Another Round’ with Mads Mikkelsen

Mads Mikkelsen is an actor that’s very hard to pin down. He’s able to deliver compelling work in just about anything, be it Marvel (Doctor Strange), Star Wars (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), or James Bond (Casino Royale). That’s just a taste of his studio output, as he’s also well known for the Pusher franchise, alongside a stunning turn in The Hunt. This doesn’t even take into account Hannibal on television. Mikkelsen can basically do anything. Having received Oscar buzz for Another Round, he remains a fringe contender in the Best Actor race. While the Academy is voting, he hopped on Zoom to talk about the film with me, alongside a fair amount of other topics.

Below, you can see my conversation with Mikkelsen. We obviously spoke about the movie quite a bit, but it’s just a casual chat overall, moving around from one place to another. He was excellent virtual company, so this was a a discussion I really enjoyed. Hopefully you do as well. There’s just a presence about the man that’s quite hard to resist, making for really solid conversation. If you haven’t seen Another Round, it’s quite good and well worth checking out. Here is some of my praise for Mikkelsen from my review of the flick (found here). In the aforementioned review, I wrote the following:

Mads Mikkelsen anchors the movie with a performance that’s incredibly effective. He’s truly a star here. This takes nothing away from the rest of the cast, mind you. Maria Bonnevie, Thomas Bo Larsen, Magnus Millang, and Lars Ranthe each do fine work. Mikkelsen just goes above and beyond. Especially considering his capacity for menace, the heart he displays is really something. Mikkelsen is always good, but this is some of his best work yet.

Here now is my interview with Another Round star Mads Mikkelsen. Enjoy:

Another Round is available to watch right now!
