In theaters now, the Golden Globe nominated film The Mauritanian has released a new trailer to help and promote its release on demand on March 2nd, featuring a quote from our very own Joey Magidson.
“It demands to be seen”, Joey stated in his review, a testament to the strength of this powerful true story. Kevin Macdonald’s film takes us on a journey into the Guantanamo Bay detention facilities, where Mohamedou Ould Slahi (Tahar Rahim), is falsely imprisoned and spends years waiting while two attorneys (Jodie Foster and Shailene Woodley) attempt to get him freed.
Also starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Zachary Levi, this isn’t a film that’s easy to watch, but clearly those who do are moved by it, as is evident by the film’s two Golden Globe nominations, one for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama, for Rahim, and another for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture, for Foster.
With Oscar voting about to get underway, STX Films is surely hoping that this late breaking push for the film could result in hearing their film’s name a few times when the nominees are announced on March 15th.
