New Trailer for ‘I Play Rocky’ Features a Quote From Our Own Joey Magidson!

Today, a new trailer for I Play Rocky was released by Amazon MGM Studios. This one happens to feature a quote from none other than our own editor, Joey Magidson. He calls the film “soulful from beginning to end” and raved about it back at the Toronto International Film Festival. That review can be found here. Peter Farrelly directs a screenplay by Peter Gamble, with the cast including Anthony Ippolito, AnnaSophia Robb, Toby Kebbell, P.J. Byrne, Jay Duplass, Kiki Seto, Matt Dillon, Stephan James, Tracy Letts. It hits select theaters on November 6th before going wide on November 20th.

The synopsis for the movie, courtesy of Amazon MGM, is as follows:

The film is an electrifying true story about an unknown actor with an unshakable belief that he wasn’t just meant to write Rocky—he was meant to be Rocky Balboa. Told “no” at every turn, Sylvester Stallone bets everything on himself, holding the line on playing the lead against seemingly impossible odds. The result is the ultimate underdog story behind the ultimate underdog movie.
