John Travolta Receives Honorary Palme d’Or at Cannes Premiere of ‘Propeller One-Way Night Coach’

John Travolta (literally) landed his plane at the Croisette for the world premiere of his feature directorial debut, Propeller One-Way Night Coach. During the premiere, he was met with a lovely surprise from festival director Thierry Frémaux, who awarded the actor the honorary Palme d’Or. Peter Jackson also received this award during the festival’s opening ceremony.

Upon receiving the prize, Travolta said, “You said this would be a special night, but I didn’t think you meant this. This is a humbling moment. This is beyond the Oscar.”

Propeller One-Way Night Coach is based on the book of the same name, written by Travolta, and stars Clark Shotwell as Jeff, a young aviation enthusiast who embarks on the journey of a lifetime to Hollywood.

The film was the first to be selected at this year’s edition of the Cannes Film Festival, with Frémaux calling Travolta “one of the greatest artists of the 20th and 21st century.”

It will be released on Apple TV+ on May 29.
