Anytime I see an actor make their directorial debut and also act in the project, I think about what that must entail. For Jason Biggs, it really did, particularly because the film he’s chosen to direct and star in is more of a genre work than he usually tackles. Untitled Home Invasion Romance is darker and more violent than what you’d normally see him acting in, so it’s quite noteworthy in that way. Recently, I sat down for a brief conversation with Biggs and his co-star Meaghan Rath. With the movie releasing this weekend, our discussion now comes your way.
Untitled Home Invasion Romance is a cute little film, the type that used to be made more than it currently is now. In that way, Biggs has hit on a throwback work. It’s not flawless, to be sure, but it exists to entertain, as well as show a new side of him, both in front of and behind the camera. To that end, it does succeed on its rather small scale.
Below, you can see my chat with Biggs and Rath. Biggs brings up the Coen Brothers in speaking of the tone he was shooting for with the flick, which you can clearly see. I wanted to hear from both of them about what his set was like, which leads to an amusing back and forth. We didn’t have a ton of time for this, but it does feel like we still managed to keep the conversation fun and loose. Untitled Home Invasion Romance is about to be released and especially if you like Biggs, you’ll probably like what he’s up to here.
Here now is my interview with Untitled Home Invasion Romance director and star Jason Biggs, alongside co-star Meaghan Rath. Enjoy:
