Last we heard about Saw news, the Saw XI production had been essentially shut down due to disagreements about the franchise’s direction. Lionsgate and the producers couldn’t come together on the next installment, so it came off the release calendar entirely. Now, it looks like a different company is on the scene to acquire the IP.
According to Deadline, Blumhouse and James Wan have stepped up and now are sharing the rights to Saw with Lionsgate. The report stresses that no new project is in development, but creatively, it seems like Wan will now have a say again. Blumhouse doesn’t tend to let properties lie dormant, so expect some news on a reboot, sequel, or something in the near future.
