Tomorrow will mark just one week until the Academy Awards. Crazy, right? It feels like it’s a lifetime away, until it’s just a matter of days. So, with the Oscars so clearly on the horizon, one of the big questions of the season is on our minds. In fact, it’s this week’s Awards Radar Community Question. Quite simply put: do you think Anora is winning Best Picture?
If you think Anora has it in the bag, tell us why. Is it because Sean Baker is also winning Best Director? Are you factoring in the film’s CCA, DGA, and PGA wins? If so, that’s perfectly valid. The same goes if you feel that Mikey Madison is taking Best Actress. Provided you feel this way, say so, along with showing your work.
On the other hand, if you don’t think that Baker’s film is winning, tell us what is? Is the movie you’re backing Conclave? Perhaps you think it’ll be The Brutalist? Whatever title you’re feeling for Picture, let us know. We’re keen to hear all about your theories, if so!
The time to chime in is now! Is Anora winning the big Oscar? If so, tell us why you feel that way. If you think it’s going to be another flick, state your case as well. We’re all ears…

There really is no other viable contender that can consolidate the same level of consensus “sure, I guess I can rank this near the top” support and passionate #1 votes, IMO.
Emilia Pérez‘s momentum has imploded, Dune: Part Two received fewer nominations than the first one’s number of wins, The Substance is a gruesome and nasty horror comedy that frankly pulled off a miracle in getting as many nominations as it has, A Complete Unknown just doesn’t have that “X” factor to center it in any discourse or pop culture spotlight (the changing demographics of the Academy away from aging Boomers also aren’t to its favor), Wicked is likely going to do well in the below-the-line races as the designated “populist” champ that’ll be seen as too “slight” for the top award, The Brutalist is beloved by critics and cinephiles (including me) but that intimidating runtime and harsh subject matter will likely keep it from being widely embraced.
It’s not really a matter of “Can Anora go all the way?” at this point, so much as “Which challenger can possibly steal its thunder?” I don’t see any besides maybe Conclave as a more “accessible” middlebrow option… but Edward Berger missing out in Best Director suggests its base of support is limited.
That’s more or less where I stand…
