Ever since Netflix pulled out of acquiring Warner Bros. and Paramount emerged from the bidding about five months ago, there have been a lot of controversies about this deal. There’s the general monopoly fears, as well as the political aspect of it, alongside what’s to come of WB. Well, even though Paramount still feels confident that they’ll be able to pull off the acquisition, it’s now on hold. More below.
According to Variety, the Paramount / Warner Bros. deal has been postponed, at least for now. Earlier this afternoon, Paramount entered into a joint stipulation in the federal case, agreeing not to close on the $111 billion transaction until five days after a trial is held, or on June 1st, 2027, whichever comes first. With no trial date set just yet, the agreement puts the merger on hold for likely about a year. Stay tuned to see what happens here.
