The Cast of ‘Lopez vs Lopez’ Tease What’s to Come in Season 2

The first season of Lopez v Lopez introduced the titular family and their daily struggles, with the spotlight shining on the fictional version of George Lopez (played by the man himself) and how hw tries to become a better person over the course of time. After the health scare the character suffered at the end of the first season, the new episodes of Lopez v Lopez will deal with the aftermath of his condition.

Awards Radar had the opportunity of speaking with the cast of Lopez v Lopez, who were very excited to discuss what their characters will go through now that the series has returned to television. George Lopez, Selenis Leyva and Al Madrigal were a part of the interview, with the performers visibly excited for audiences to see what they had prepared for them.

When asked about how Oscar’s drug use affects his potential, Al Madrigal had the following to say: “My character definitely has a ton of potential. Even in this episode that we’re filming right now, I’m reading a book and we’re going to make sure it’s this complex anthology. Or make him read British literature. (…) (Oscar) is a little bit more conscious of his sobriety.”

Selenis Leyva is very aware of the changes Rosie will go through in the second season of Lopez v Lopez. When asked about how the character will change her behaviour after George’s health scare, the actress mentioned: “Definitely feelings are happening. There’s a lot of feelings in Season 2, and it does stem from George’s journey as a sober human. When you’re sober, you’re not hiding behind the vices. We’re going to see George really get there and that is going to bring up feelings for Rosie. Specifically with their relationship, and we’ll see how that evolves and where it takes us to.

Lopez v Lopez has counted with the presence of various prominent guest stars from the Latino community. In Season 2, Jaime Camil will be introduced in a guest role. When asked about who he’d like to work with next, George Lopez stated: “I would hope that Jaime (Camil) can always be around in the family. The fact that we run a movie company means that anyone can show up at any time at somebody’s house. (…) Shakira! (could work as a guest star for Lopez v Lopez). You could see how reality slips into television.”

The cast of Lopez v Lopez was asked what they would like for Latino families to take away from the series, and Selenis Leyva said: “We are representing this Latino culture in this way. For people to just take away that forgiveness goes a long way. Family, love and all that. And when someone is going through sobriety what really, really matters is the support of their family. We’re hoping that people will see that in this season and can relate to it and somehow we can make people laugh at the same time.”

The second season of Lopez v Lopez is currently airing on NBC.
