Luca Guadagnino’s Almost Completed Sam Altman Movie ‘Artificial’ Has Been Dropped by Amazon

Luca Guadagnino seemingly has found a home at Amazon. They’ve release his last two films, Challengers and After the Hunt, and he’s currently wrapping up what would have been his third, which is the Sam Altman movie Artificial. Andrew Garfield stars as the OpenAI founder, while the rest of the cast includes Monica Barbaro, Ike Barinholtz, and Yura Borisov in central roles. Despite that pedigree, Amazon is not going to be putting this one out. More below.

According to Variety, the decision has been made to drop Artificial and not release it. The film will now be shopped to other distributors. Now, what makes this notable is the OpenAI partnership that Amazon has recently entered into. Coincidence? Draw your own conclusions. Regardless, the movie will now be looking for a new home as it nears completion.
