Marielle Heller to Write and Direct a Live Action ‘FernGully’

FernGully: The Last Rainforest is a classic animated film, one that we see invoked in a number of modern works. However, despite its presence there, a new movie has not emerged. Well, we now have news of one, though it’s actually not an animated effort, but a live action one. Read on for details on who will be at the helm.

According to Deadline, Marielle Heller is going to write and direct the live action version of FernGully: The Last Rainforest. Amazon MGM Studios is behind it. Heller is also at work on a new film with Tom Hanks, as we’ve recently reported, but likely once she completes that, it’ll be off to the world of FernGully for her. Stay tuned for more.

Boy, I’d love to see Marielle Heller get more opportunities to direct!

Hahaha

Too true, though I like the sound of the other Heller project with Hanks…
