If you thought Scarlett Johansson signing on to star in the latest Jurassic World film was an interesting choice of blockbuster project for her, just wait. Last month, she joined a new take on The Exorcist from Mike Flanagan. Today, however, reports have her negotiating to be the first major new cast addition to The Batman Part II. More below.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Johansson is in talks to join Matt Reeves‘ sequel to The Batman. No word on who she’d be playing, but this would be a jolt of A-list to the brewing sequel. The film is hoping to shoot next year, which means she’d make The Exorcist first, but both seem like huge new projects for her. More on the movie when we have it, but The Batman Part II just took a major step forward.

I got the very strong sense that Scarlett Johansson was conspicuously relieved to have finally moved on from the Marvel juggernaut after Black Widow, so to see her jump right into several more big franchise tentpoles despite a net worth of $165 million is… a little surprising to me. It seemed like she was really excited to spend the next phase of her career going wild with weird indie passion projects. Wishful thinking on my part, I guess…
True. I’m intrigued with this potential role, but yes, more Under the Skin would have been nice.
