97th Academy Awards Dominated By ‘Anora’

We’re on the other side now, ladies and gentlemen. The 97th Academy Awards have just wrapped up, with Anora almost pulling a sweep. Sean Baker won four Oscars, including Best Director and Best Original Screenplay, making an unprecedented run. The film won five prizes, capped by Best Actress for Mikey Madison and, of course, Best Picture in the end. I’m completely stunned that Best Lead Actor lines up 100% with my own favorite leading performance by a man yet again. This never happened in the 2010s, the 2000s, or the 1990s, and yet somehow it’s happened three times in the last five years.
