Sean Baker Makes History as First To Win Four Oscars for the Same Film

Some Oscar history happened Sunday night at the Academy Awards. Sean Baker took home four Oscars, winning for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Film Editing, all for Anora. The fact that it was for the same movie is what makes this so special. Why? Well, it’s never been done before.

Baker is the first in Oscar history to achieve this feat. Now, Walt Disney won for Academy Awards in 1954, but they were for four different films. Baker has done it solely with Anora here in 2025. So, he stands alone. There’s more to say on the 97th Academy Awards, so look for Joey’s contributions there all week. Right now, however, it’s fun to point out some Oscar history, courtesy of the big night that Anora and Baker had.

Congrats to Sean Baker!
