100 Films to Look Forward To in 2024

Welcome to 2024! With the calendar fully turned over from 2023, we’re about to get an entire slate of new movies to dig into. This coming weekend, the first major releases of the year will be hitting. Beyond that? Well, there’s literally everything. Three years ago, I posed this list for 2021 on January 1st (here), with the 2022 list here, as well as last year’s 2023 list here, and managed to hit on a lot of the major flicks. Of course, I didn’t hit on everything, and even some of the ones I did have graduated to this list. Today, you’ll see my collection of the 100 bits of cinema that I most think are worth considering during the impending twelve months. Fun, right? Yeah, I thought so.

What you’ll see below are just 100 films that I think might be interesting to you, to me, or potentially to all of us. The top of the list is horror heavy, as we’re looking at MaXXXine, Saw XI, Terrifier 3, and They Follow. That alone could make this quite the year. Throw in the Sean Baker project Anora, the hotly anticipated Deadpool 3, as well as the similarly pined after Dune: Part Two, and that’s a solid bit of my top ten.

Now, there are some big titles not on this list that potentially would have been, but for the SAG strike. They include Quentin Tarantino‘s The Movie Critic (which would have been my number one selection), the re-teaming of the Safdie Brothers with Adam Sandler, and more. The strike obviously was far more important, so keep that in mind. I suspect we’ll see them on next year’s list. Still, this year’s has no shortage of fascinating flicks…
