‘American Fiction’ Moves Its Release Date to December

Over the weekend, Cord Jefferson‘s American Fiction took home the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival. As you all know, winning this Audience Award at TIFF usually brings with it major Oscar contention. As such, the studio handling the movie has opted to give it a more appropriate release date.

According to Variety, MGM has decided to move American Fiction from a November 3rd limited release to a more awards friendly date of December 15th, with an expansion on December 22nd. Whether or not American Fiction manages to get Academy Award love or not, it now has a scheduled release date that suggests plenty of opportunity.
