Folks, the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival is now in the books! The past handful of years, Tribeca was a very different fest than normal, though the prior two years (as well as, to an extent, this year) it was a hybrid type of situation, mixing in person and virtual events. Give or take some small issues, I do think that the hybrid model continues to be a good template for festivals to come, at least for somewhat smaller ones like Sundance and Tribeca. Like I’ve said in years past, there’s something great about having both options. Providing a venue to attend movie screenings at is great, but opening things up virtually to more people is only a net positive. In any event, with Tribeca in the rearview mirror now, I wanted to share my highlights of the festival, which you can see below…
My awards for last year can be found here (the year before is here), but this year, the winners look a bit different. As always, a few films rise to the top, but there’s more variety than usual, given no one title dominating for me. You’ll see what I mean next.
