The 2021 Tribeca Film Festival is now in the books! Much like last year, Tribeca was a very different fest than normal, though this year thankfully was a hybrid situation, mixing in person and virtual events. While some had issues with the organization of it all (myself included), I do think that this is a good template for festivals to come, at least in the immediate future. Providing a venue to attend movie screenings at is great, but opening things up virtually to more people is only a net positive. We’ll see what happens in that regard, but to close up Tribeca, I want to go ahead and cite some of the flicks that impressed me most…
There were certainly some highlights for me, as well as some titles that I was more indifferent to. Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain certainly qualifies for the former category, for example. All of my coverage can be found here, but now, I want to conclude things with something a little fun. Here now are my personal prizes for the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival.
