Now, this is the kind of interview I don’t normally get to do. Sure, I get to interview all sorts of people. Over the past fifteen plus years, I’ve spoken to almost every type of person in the film industry. Hell, I’ve even gotten to chat with a few athletes. However, I can honestly say I’ve never gotten to do it with an NBA Hall of Fame player. Bill Bradley is an all-time New York Knick, but somehow, that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Throw in the fact that Bradley is also a former three term United States Senator from New Jersey, as well as a candidate for President back in 2000, and this is a one of a kind discussion. And yet, with his documentary Rolling Along about to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, that’s just what I was given the opportunity to do. It’s not every day that you get on the phone and the person on the other line says they’re about to connect you to the Senator…
You’ll be able to see my review of Rolling Along soon, but as a quick preview, the film is a live theatrical recording of Bradley performing his one man show. It’s essentially his Springsteen on Broadway, full of stories about his life. Bradley is an engaging and passionate storyteller, and the stories he’s telling? Well, you can see for yourself, but he has led quite the life. More soon when my review drops.
Below, you can hear my conversation with Bradley. We talk politics, sports, and what the process was for developing Rolling Along. Bradley is quite generous with his time and genuinely seems to be taken with my appreciation/interest in his life. That was lovely of him, but seriously, how could you not be? Any one aspect of his story is incredible. Put together? He has more than lived the American Dream. So, be sure to listen to our chat, don’t miss Rolling Along, and stay tuned for my full review of his incredibly engaging movie.
Here now is my interview with Hall of Fame New York Knick, former United States Senator from New Jersey, and Presidential candidate Bill Bradley, talking Rolling Along. Enjoy:
Rolling Along is playing at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 16th, 17th, and 18th!
