It’s been four years since the release of Colin Trevorrow‘s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, a film that proved to be quite divisive amongst critics and longtime fans of the Jurassic franchise alike, with many critiquing the script and characters.
We have known about the sequel to that film for a long time now – that film, of course, being Jurassic World Dominion. If you managed to catch an IMAX screening of Justin Lin‘s F9 back in the summer of 2021, you would’ve seen an extended preview of Dominion, but ever since then, there’s been a lot of silence. Until now.
Today, a brand new, full-length trailer for the third and final installment in the Jurassic World trilogy has been released, and it’s sure to please fans who want to see the legacy characters back in action as promised with last year’s casting announcements.
The film is set about four years after the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, in which genetically engineered dinosaurs were auctioned to companies around the world while others were released on the U.S. mainland. The story takes place around the world and depicts humans living with dinosaurs.
You can take a look at the new trailer here:
The cast includes Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Laura Dern, Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, Mamoudou Athie, Scott Haze, Dichen Lachman, Daniella Pineda, Campbell Scott, Isabella Sermon, Justice Smith, Omar Sy, DeWanda Wise, and BD Wong.
Trevorrow and Emily Carmichael serve as screenwriters, with Amblin Entertainment serving as the production company.
Jurassic World Dominion is scheduled to be released in theatres by Universal Pictures on June 10, 2022.
Twenty-nine years after movies like MARY POPPINS and MY FAIR LADY dominated the box office, JURASSIC PARK was released and became an instant cultural phenomenon and (briefly) the highest-grossing movie of all time.
And then twenty-nine years after that, an entirely new generation of moviegoers will be able to see… another JURASSIC PARK movie, only now all the original actors are old and the special effects aren’t as groundbreaking or novel.
God, how depressing…
It seemed to be what folks wanted, judging by the Jurassic World box office. I’m cautiously optimistic this will at least be a fun diversion…
