On November 12th, 2021, I would argue that most of the world was introduced to a musical on Netflix, Tick, Tick… Boom!, written by the late, great Jonathan Larson.
But if you’re like me, you’ve known all the words to “Come to Your Senses”, “Louder Than Words” and “30/90” for YEARS. You may have even performed “Therapy” in your college musical theatre class.
AKA, I’ve been a lover of this musical for 20 years, and I had the extraordinary honor to speak to Tony Award winner, Emmy nominee, and newly minted WGA nominee Steven Levenson, who wrote the screenplay for this masterpiece. But his accomplishments honestly don’t need to be mentioned. My biggest takeaway from speaking with Levenson, was that he just adores musicals, and he is first and foremost, a fan of theatre.
