With his latest film News of the World currently up for 4 Oscars at this year’s upcoming ceremony, Paul Greengrass and Universal clearly have a good thing going.
That in mind, there’s no surprise that the filmmaker and studio are teaming up again for his next project, an adaptation of the novel Night of Camp David by Fletcher Knebel.
Greengrass will direct the picture about a young senator who is taken under the wing of his President, only to one night have the President confide in him his unsettling plans to make America a supreme world power. With the senator concerned about the mental state, and unnerving plans, of the President, what will he do next?
It certainly seems like a plot that will hold some parallels to a certain President who may have recently left office, but it’s also a story as old as time when it comes to what power can do to a person. Jed Mercurio (Bodyguard) is adapting Knebel’s novel for the screen.
Greengrass is a notoriously quick director, so we may start hearing more word on the production of this one soon, with eyes sure to be on the casting news of these two key parts.
