As is always the case around this time of year, awards campaigns are gearing up, with category submissions for the Golden Globe Awards chief among them. When it comes to films with music in them, the question is always whether they’ll be in the Drama or Comedy/Musical categories. Michael, the Michael Jackson biopic, had submitted for Comedy/Musical. Well, it sounds like the Golden Globes disagree. More below.
According to Variety, the Globes have rejected the submission. Lionsgate can appeal the ruling before the submission deadline at the end of the month, so while it remains to be seen if they do so, if this holds, Michael will be competing in Best Drama and the like. Adjust your Golden Globe predictions accordingly, if so.
