The Nomadland train rolls on, as Chloé Zhao’s drama picks up wins for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Cinematography from the Houston Film Critics Society.
Zhao’s film seems to be the frontrunner in all three categories as of yet, though there’s still plenty of time to go before the Oscar nominations are announced on March 15th, 2021, and sometimes being the early frontrunner can backfire in a big way.
One movie that’s surging strong right now, especially with its release on video on demand this past Friday, is Emerald Fennel’s Promising Young Woman, which picked up wins from the HFCS for Best Actress for Carey Mulligan, along with Best Screenplay for Fennell herself.
