Frances Selects ‘Minotaur’ As Its Oscar Submission in Best International Feature Film

Another day, another submission for Best International Feature Film at the Academy Awards. Today, France has made their pick, had been up for some debate. The country could have selected for Oscar consideration De Gaulle, Iron Boy, La Gradiva, Minotaur, or The Unknown. Well, the choice has been made, and it’s Minotaur. More below.

According to Variety, Andrey Zvyagintsev’s Minotaur, which won the Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, is France’s selection. Their support for the Russian filmmaker’s movie is notable, and could give it a leg up in the race, which also features Cannes standouts like Fjord (which beat Minotaur for the Palme d’Or) and La bola negra.
