In a relatively short period of time, Emma Stone has become a star. Two Academy Awards (for La La Land and Poor Things), alongside a host of winning performances, have made her one of the most likable A-listers in Hollywood. Plus, her propensity to get weird with Yorgos Lanthimos (which I discussed here with the both of them) just makes her even cooler. With Stone currently in theaters with Eddington (reviewed here) and potentially in the awards race this year for Bugonia, it’s high time to look at her best work to date.
As a reminder, this here is what I said about Stone and her Oscar winning performance in Poor Things:
Emma Stone gives the performance of her career so far playing Bella Baxter. She could easily win her second Academy Award for Best Actress. Watching her evolve Bella is a work of art. She’s a riot comedically, but also a forceful power. You root for her at all turns and celebrate every new achievement. Bella is one of the cinematic creations of the year.
Below, you can find my Stone list. For me, it has got to be Poor Things at the top, though Easy A and La La Land are next in line. Easy A especially is arguably her most underrated work, as it proved early on that she was a star. Looking at my picks, you can see that she’s worked with a host of interesting filmmakers as well, which shows just how appealing she is for storytellers to partner with. Your mileage may vary, but my picks below represent how I see Stone, who is among the most interesting actresses in the business, especially when she’s being zany with Lanthimos.

I knew I wasn’t going to agree with your #1 before even finishing the article, but it’s nice to see her expert comedic chops in Easy A ranked so high.
Easy A is criminally underrated, not just for her, but the supporting cast as well.
