Taika Waititi to Direct a ‘Judge Dredd’ Movie

This is an interesting combination of material and filmmaker. Judge Dredd is an incredibly popular British comic book property, far more so than the two previous film incarnations that Hollywood put out. Now, a new take is being put together, with the director being none other than Oscar winner Taika Waititi.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Waititi is directing a Judge Dredd movie, to be penned by Drew Pearce. It seems the two are friends and have been looking for a project to tackle together. Now, they have one in this adaptation. It’s still a ways away, but this does suggest a more fun take on the material than the previous incarnations. Stay tuned for more.
