Denis Villeneuve Agrees to Direct the Next James Bond Film

Sometimes, it pays to dream big. Even before No Time to Die chose its director, Denis Villeneuve was the pie in the sky pick to helm. He was busy building the world of Dune, of course, but clearly was interested in James Bond. Now, with Amazon MGM in control of 007 and prepping the next movie, they’ve apparently made the auteur an offer he couldn’t refuse.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Villeneuve has indeed been tapped to direct the next Bond film. Presumably, he’ll dive in after finishing his final Dune project, so this is a ways off. Still, the next step is to get a screenwriter on board with Villeneuve to figure out the story. Then, casting the spy can begin. It’s very early in the process, but this is a very exciting development for 007.
