For years, Aaron Sorkin has been talking about making a sequel to The Social Network. He clearly has an interest in writing the next chapter of the story of Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg. However, it always seemed more like musing than an actual plan. Well, that has now changed, as a sequel is actually happening.
According to Variety, not only is Sorkin writing the sequel, he’s planning to direct it as well. David Fincher notably directed The Social Network, though he’s currently working on the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood sequel/spinoff. Sorkin’s sequel is going to be based on the series of articles at the Wall Street Journal called The Facebook Files. No word on if Jesse Eisenberg will be approached to play Zuckerberg again, but that does seem like the obvious next move. More when we have it.
