Will We Ever See a ‘Rainbow Six’ Movie?

Where is our Rainbow Six movie? At the height of his movie stardom, Michael B. Jordan starred in Without Remorse, which ultimately is a prequel to Rainbow Six, ending with essentially the announcement that this movie would be next. That was in 2021. The only announcements since then came in early 2023 when Chad Stahelski was announced to direct, with Jordan still on board, as well as Daniel Fajemisin-Duncan and Marlon Smith writing it. The property is still going strong in other media, so hopefully another update is coming soon, as it’s just the type of epic action film we all could use.

For those unaware, Rainbow Six is a long-running video game franchise, based on the 1998 novel by Tom Clancy. That same year, the first game came out, with installments continuing into the modern time. In fact, despite being a decade old, Rainbow Six Siege (or R6S to fans) is still considered a standout for tactical shooter fans, due to its modern features and diverse gameplay. In its recent updates, the community has become interested in Bravo Pack Tickets, which give them access to unique rewards. Specifically, Bravo Pack tickets are a form of premium currency enabling players to purchase Bravo Packs in Rainbow Six Siege, which contain unique items like operator cosmetics, charms, and weapon skins. Unlike Alpha Packs, which are earned through gameplay, or Renown Bravo packs, these tickets are earned through seasonal progression and cannot be purchased. Gamers are invested in those tickets, as well as using Rainbow Six Siege rank boosting services to more efficiently get their rewards. So, wouldn’t a movie be the ultimate reward?

A movie would tie into the game nicely. While gamers are doing daily and weekly challenges in the game, these activities give a lot of Battle Pass XP. There’s an investment of time here that showcases interest. They’re also utilizing Ubisoft Connect, which has points that can be exchanged for Bravo Pack Tickets or other special items. This proves that these gamers would turn out for a film that does the property justice.

Jordan on board as John Clark is a great start, so the other key piece would be Domingo “Ding” Chavez. They would be the action leads, taking down whatever terrorist operation the movie chooses to utilize. With so many installments of the games, they could go to Las Vegas, as the franchise notably did, for example. Jordan is the lead, for sure, but his right hand man in Chavez would be key casting.

If they can get things moving, Rainbow Six could come to us in the next few years, not only making the games even more popular, but giving us a new action franchise to sink our teeth into. They have the pieces. Gamers are ready. It’s just a matter of it actually happening.

Great piece. A Rainbow Six movie could really work if it keeps the same grounded, high-stakes tactical feel that made the franchise stand out in the first place. Michael B. Jordan is still attached, and the article notes Chad Stahelski was announced to direct, which makes the project feel like it still has real potential if it finally moves forward What matters most is that it should feel tense, smart, and team-driven rather than just becoming another generic action film. A lot of fans would probably show up for that same mix of precision, pressure, and payoff that makes progression systems in games so satisfying—almost the same appeal behind wow boost
