This afternoon, the 77th Cannes Film Festival came to a close. Taking the coveted top prize, the Palme d’Or, was Sean Baker‘s latest sex-positive comedy, Anora. Emilia Pérez took two categories, the Jury Prize, as well as Best Actress for its central female cast, consisting of Adriana Paz, Zoe Saldaña, Karla Sofía Gascón, and Selena Gomez. Best Actor went to Jesse Plemons for Kinds of Kindness. The rest of the categories can be seen below, but Anora may well be a bigger awards contender than we thought. Plus, that’s another year where NEON has the Palme winner. Go figure!

Incredible. Absolutely gob-smacking. I predicted my own blunder this time around. I said, in my prediction article, that there was I very real likelihood that I would wrongly predict the Palme d’Or winner would take the Best Actress prize for the second year in a row… and it happened!
Ah, well, at least my instincts about Grand Tour weren’t totally unwarranted…
At least we’re consistent! I told you earlier how I initially had Plemmons winning Actor and Anora taking the Palme, but then I had to think about it some more. Oops…
