The first trailer for Hit Man has been released online. Written and directed by Richard Linklater and co-written by Glen Powell, who base the story off the Texas Monthly Article by Skip Hollandsworth, the film stars Powell, Adria Arjona, Austin Amelio, Retta, Sanjay Rao, Molly Bernard, and Evan Holtzman.

Here is the plot synopsis:

“Inspired by an unbelievable true story, a strait-laced professor discovers his hidden talent as a fake hit man. He meets his match in a client who steals his heart and ignites a powder keg of deception, delight, and mixed-up identities.”

Additionally, the first poster was released for the movie, which you can look at below:

Our editor-in-chief, Joey Magidson, had a chance to see the movie at the Toronto International Film Festival and praised it as his favorite of the festival, stating that “Hit Man is smarter than it seems on paper while still being very much a crowd-pleasing endeavor. Not only is it playing around with genre, philosophy gets its time as well. Everything works, which you don’t say very often. For nearly two hours, you just have a warm fuzzy feeling of watching a great new film.” You can check out his full review of the movie here.

The movie will be released in select theatres on May 24 and on Netflix on June 7, but will only be made available on the streaming service in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, India, South Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, and Iceland.

For those who wonder why Canada isn’t on the list, the film will be distributed by VVS Films, which has given it an exclusive theatrical release on May 24.
