Film Independent Sets Dates for 40th Annual Spirit Awards

Film Independent has announced key dates for its 40th annual Independent Spirit Awards. The nominee brunch will occur on January 4, 2025, while the ceremony will occur on February 22, 2025. According to a press release, the awards ceremony will celebrate “four decades of independence and excellence” while also stating that “these awards serve as the cornerstone fundraiser for Film Independent’s year-round initiatives, dedicated to supporting a global community of artists and audiences who embody diversity, innovation, curiosity and uniqueness of vision.”

In a statement, Film Independent president Josh Welsh said, “For 40 years, the Spirit Awards have been the beacon for bold and original independent storytelling. As we commemorate this significant milestone, we look forward to celebrating with the independent creative community on February 22nd.”

Film Independent continues to schedule its awards ceremony in the last week of February, with the 39th annual Independent Spirit Awards held on February 25, 2024, where Past Lives and Beef were the biggest winners in the film and television category, respectively.
