CBS’ comedy series Ghosts continues to be one of the most enjoyable comedies on television midway through its third season. The American version of the popular UK sitcom of the same name follows Sam (Rose McIver) and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar), who, after inheriting a massive country home, soon discover that there are ghosts that live within it – and Sam can see them. Among the most memorable – and prone to say something suggestive – is Trevor (Asher Grodman), who died without his pants on and has the ability to press computer buttons at an incredibly slow rate.
Awards Radar had the chance to speak with Grodman about the nature of his eternal costume and the sense of humor he has about it:
“When you’re at home and you watch it later, it’s just funnier not having pants on. It’s also nice, there’s this moment that happens with our amazing crew in Montreal, especially our camera department, where there’s a collective – and trust me, life would be easier without this – effort that goes into that our show says safe for CBS and doesn’t turn into HBO depending on how I’m sitting at any given moment. Who would miss dealing with that obstacle all the time?”
He also shared his enthusiasm for his character’s Jewish background:
“It’s fun for me because I think it’s very rare. I don’t know how many Jewish characters I’ve actually auditioned for in my life, but I can’t imagine it’s been many, probably more in theater than in film and television, so the odds of me being a Jewish guy in the role that, now I’ve played Trevor more than I have anything else, I get to play a Jewish guy is a lot of fun. And it’s also fun that he’s not the Jewish ghost. He’s a lot of things. One of them is Jewish.”
