If you thought casting news for James Gunn‘s Superman was over…think again! With David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan respectively portraying Clark Kent and Lois Lane, it was inevitable that Perry White, boss of Kent and Lane at The Daily Planet, would make an appearance.
And he certainly will, with The Wire and Jack Ryan‘s Wendell Pierce set to play the iconic character. White was previously portrayed on the big screen by Jackie Gleason in the Christopher Reeve pictures, Frank Langella in 2006’s Superman Returns, and Laurence Fishburne in the DC Extended Universe films Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Principal photography on Superman began yesterday, with Nicholas Hoult, Edi Gathegi, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Anthony Carrigan, Sara Sampaio, and Skyler Gisondo also involved in the cast. Gunn has also written the screenplay, which will be the “true” start to his DC Universe after Creature Commandos acts as an aperitif for what’s to come. The Max series will be released this year, while Superman will fly up, up, and away in theaters on July 11, 2025.
