Earlier this week, Tom Cruise signed a deal with Warner Bros. to produce original and franchise theatrical-exclusive films for the studio, but it looks like he will continue collaboration with Paramount Pictures with Mission: Impossible, and now Top Gun.
After the massive success of Top Gun: Maverick in 2022, it is now reported that Top Gun 3 is in development at Paramount Pictures, with Cruise set to return. Ehren Kruger is presently writing a draft for the screenplay, with Joseph Kosinski either set to return in the director or producer’s chair. Kosinski is currently working on his untitled Formula One movie for Apple with Brad Pitt, Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, and Javier Bardem.
Miles Teller and Glen Powell are also set to return to reprise their roles of Rooster and Hangman, with Jerry Bruckheimer and David Ellison executive producing. Since the movie is currently in its development stage, we might not hear about it for a while, but it is certainly exciting that it is indeed happening in such a short time after Top Gun: Maverick made over $1 billion in 2022 and was nominated for several Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
