BAFTA Rising Star Nominees Announced for 2024

Nominees for the BAFTA Rising Star Award have been announced for 2024, celebrating up-and-coming on-screen talent. The Jury for the Rising Star Award includes Daisy Edgar-Jones, Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, Himesh Patel, Lucy Bevan, and Adam Ackland, and is chaired by Anna Higgs. Here are the nominees:

  • Ayo Edebiri
  • Phoebe Dynevor
  • Mia McKenna-Bruce
  • Sophie Wilde

In a statement, BAFTA said, “The nominees consist of five actors who have each demonstrated their remarkable talent in film over the past year, having captured the imagination of both the public and film industry alike.”

On the other hand, BAFTA’s CEO, Jane Millichip, said: “I am delighted to celebrate the exceptional talent showcased by this year’s five nominees for the EE Rising Star Award. These remarkable individuals represent what BAFTA and the EE Rising Star Award stand for as the future of the film industry, embodying innovation, dedication, and a commitment to storytelling that captivates audiences worldwide.”

Reacting to the nomination, Elordi said, “I am deeply honored to be recognized by BAFTA and EE with a Rising Star nomination,” while Edebiri expressed that it is “wonderful and humbling to receive this nomination. It’s the greatest privilege to tell stories and make people laugh. I know I’m in esteemed company and this means the world.”

Dynevor also reacted to her nomination, saying: “Being recognized by the EE BAFTA Film Awards for the EE Rising Star Award is a testament to the hard work of the entire team on Fair Play who brought this film to life. I am truly grateful for this recognition and excited to continue challenging myself with new roles and projects.”

Mia McKenna Bruce had this to say about her nomination: “I have always been inspired by the work of those actors recognized in the BAFTA EE Rising Star category. To hear that I now stand amongst the past and present nominees is surreal and a total dream come true. I am so very grateful, thank you to the jury.”

Finally, Talk to Me‘s Sophie Wilde said the following on her nomination: “I am so very excited and grateful to BAFTA and EE for including me in this category and amongst this year’s brilliant nominees. To be recognized, and for Talk To Me, a film we all put so much love and hard work into, is a privilege.”

Voting is now open at ee.co.uk/BAFTA — the winner will be unveiled during this year’s ceremony on February 18.
