Official Trailer Released for Zach Cregger’s ‘Resident Evil’

Earlier this morning, we got a newer and somewhat fuller look at what Zach Cregger is cooking up with Resident Evil, as the official trailer has hit the web. Coming after the teaser that first played to those in attendance at CinemaCon, this continues to hint at a very different looking adaptation of the video game franchise. At the same time, a lot of Resident Evil staples from the game can be seen in this trailer. Cregger co-writes and directs, with Austin Abrams in the lead role, while supporting cast members include Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, and Paul Walter Hauser.

Columbia Pictures has released the following synopsis, which remains the same as last time:

From the mind of visionary filmmaker Zach Cregger (Weapons, Barbarian) comes a thrilling — and terrifying — reinvention of the Resident Evil franchise. In an all-new story, Resident Evil follows Bryan (Austin Abrams), a medical courier who unwittingly finds himself in an action-packed, non-stop race for survival as one fateful, horrifying night collapses around him in chaos.

From Columbia Pictures and Constantin Film, in association with TriStar Pictures, Resident Evil hits theatres September 18, 2026.

Here now is the official trailer for Resident Evil:

**Sees the protagonist struggling to find ammo**

Oh, okay, so maybe this is a proper adaptation of Resident Evil!

Oh yes, and I especially appreciated seeing that coming off of having just played Resident Evil Requiem to completion and doubling back to finally re-start and run through Resident Evil Village in the span of a few days.
